Woodland Sunflowers
Here comes the sun! Oh my, I LOVE this time of year. I've always been fascinated by flower fields. If I could afford it, I would chose where I travel based on flower fields. Sounds ridiculous, I know - but several years ago I went to the the Skagit Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon, Washington and had the time of my life. It was incredibly whimsical. This trip unfortunately occurred before the days of Dressed To Match so I don't have any pics of me frolicking through the fields!
Anyway, there are several sunflower fields around Sacramento and in the past I've noticed they are blooming late June to mid July. Dixon has several along Highway 80 and then Woodland has many off Highway 113 and County Road 25.
As I've mentioned before, my dad is a professional photographer. Eons ago we went to a farm in Woodland to shoot a marketing campaign for VSP and our love of sunflower fields was forever sealed. My dad and I try to go every year to scope them out and take pictures because they are literally so incredible!
There are no shortage of sunflower dresses that would have worked well for this, but I really wanted something unique. Also, I thought it was important to find a dress with a white background as to stand out and contrast the shadows between the rows.
Dressed To Match has inherently made my wardrobe BOLD and unique and while searching for a dress to match the sunflowers I discovered a brand called Farm Rio. I was immediately drawn to their bright, bold patterns. Florals, foliage, and fruit, OH MY!! Their dresses are INCREDIBLE and even though they had a few options for sunflower dresses, I ended up going with the Sunflower Midi Dress. I included some others along with it below:
