Hello!

Welcome to Dressed To Match. I’m Michelle and I coordinate my outfits to match pieces of art!

Frida In Midtown

Frida In Midtown

This fairly new mural in town has quickly become one of my favorites. It’s very well done, beautifully composed, and the palette is incredibly bright and happy! The artist, John S. Huerta, maintains a studio that is only a few feet away from the mural and is located in the courtyard behind Kulture, an art, apparel, and Mexican imports gift shop on K and 24th in Sacramento.

I had so much fun touring Kulture, meeting the owner, David, and checking out all of the amazing inventory he has there. This is truly a gem in Midtown and I can’t believe it took me so long to go in! As I mentioned above, the shop occupies the front of a building that houses several other small stores (including John’s studio) surrounding a courtyard. In this courtyard there’s ANOTHER great mural which I had never seen by Mexican artist Bernardo Berlanga!

Just a few short steps away is Cantina Alley, which I’ve always enjoyed going to. What I love so much about this area is that there’s so much more than meets the eye. I pass by here daily and never knew there was so much to do and see in the area aside from the obvious attractions like Tres Hermanas and Golden Bear.

Do yourself a favor and check out John’s Frida mural, go to Kulture, check out John’s studio and the other shops in the courtyard, see Bernardo’s mural, and then finish with a drink at Cantina Alley. Sounds great to me!
