Leo Villareal
The first piece of art you see when walking into the ART, a hotel, is Leo Villareal’s LED light piece called Threshold. The piece contains 22,000 white LED nodes into the ceiling of the building’s entrance and has an ever-changing light display of abstract patterns! It’s definitely a sight to behold as the lights often create rhythmic patterns and waves across the ceiling.
According to the hotel art guide, Villareal’s Bay Lights and Illuminated River of the River Thames in London are two of his most renowned works. My local followers will recognize his work from the 1.8 mile display of LED patterns that never repeat themselves on the cables of the north side of the San Francisco - Oakland suspension bridge.
