Jillian Evelyn
It's been awhile since I've done a match that I'm really ecstatic about and wow, I am so proud of how this match turned out! One of the best parts about Dressed To Match is that I’m able to show off the art in my hometown, Sacramento. There’s definitely a greater element of pride when I get to do a match with a local mural or sculpture!
This mural was painted by Jillian Evelyn during the Wide Open Walls mural festival in 2019 and is located at Sacramento State University on Lassen Hall. I love Jillian Evelyn's work and the graphic nature of her figures is very intriguing to me. While her solid planes of color appear quite flat, her the use of a thin line not only helps define her subject's shape but also creates the illusion of space.
My goal for this match was to go beyond simply matching the woman in the mural. I really wanted to become an "extension" of the composition by posing in a way that wouldn't detract from the piece, but rather accentuate its strong angular emphasis. Plus, since I can't really bend my arms and legs and intertwine them like the figure in the mural, this seemed to be the better option.
A huge thanks to Print All Over Me for the custom jumpsuit - I couldn’t have done this one without it!
