Hello!

Welcome to Dressed To Match. I’m Michelle and I coordinate my outfits to match pieces of art!

Paul Gauguin

Paul Gauguin

I just spent the week in Paris and was in art history heaven! Between the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay alone, Paris is home to the most incredible collection of masterpieces. One of my personal favorite museums, though, is Musée de L’Orangerie, which is located in the Tuileries Gardens. While it is best known for Claude Monet’s incredible large-scale panoramic water lily paintings, the museum is also home to the Jean Walter and Paul Guillaume Collection, which consists of several hundred paintings, from Impressionism to Modern Art.

I chose to match a beautiful landscape by Paul Gauguin called “Paysage” from 1901. The bright blue sky and contrasting green foliage caught my eye immediately. While the piece is representational in its subject, Gauguin’s Post-Impressionist application of paint and saturated palette make for a vibrantly modern interpretation.
