One of my favorite places to visit in Paris is Palais-Royal, a palace located in the 1st Arrondissement near the Louvre. The courtyard and gardens are so beautiful and in the couple of times we visited during the week, it was almost empty!
The palace was originally named Palais-Cardinal, as it was the personal residence of Cardinal Richelieu in the 17th century. Arcades of shops surround the main courtyard, where artist Daniel Buren installed several site specific striped columns called Les Colonnes de Buren. They create visual interest and are quite interactive – you’ll usually find tourists like me standing or sitting on the columns while children zoom around on the courtyard on their scooters.
When I came across this Kate Spade dress a few days before we left for our trip, the pattern immediately reminded me of Palais-Royal. The dress is perfect for travel – not fussy and the fit and flare shape is flattering on most! I paired the dress with my favorite Stuart Weitzman heels and a pair of fun sunnies from Anthropologie.
